Pastor Somkong Vong, lovingly known as Kong, is a survivor. A child of refugees, Kong earned a college degree and is a math teacher at East Des Moines High School in Des Moines, Iowa. She also serves as pastor of Lifesong Church in Des Moines, a predominantly Asian body of Open Bible believers. Kong’s life as high school teacher and pastor was full enough, but then cancer attacked her body. Rather than giving into discouragement, Kong has kept her head high, her smile humbly beaming, and her gentle testimony for Christ genuine.
