Leigh Adelbert “Del” Lumbard went to heaven on September 17, 2021, at the age of 86.

Del was born July 19, 1935, in Prescott, Arizona. During his senior year in high school in Tacoma, Washington, he made the commitment to serve God, something he would continue to do without wavering for seventy years. While attending Eugene Bible College in Eugene, Oregon, Del met Joan Davis, who would become his ministry partner and wife.

The Lumbards pastored churches in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. It was while Del was the national Overcomers’ president that he and Joan, who took up her heavenly residence about a year ago, started national Bible quizzing and Music with a Purpose.

President Randall Bach said, “Del was a kind-hearted encourager, a pastor whose congregants never doubted how much he loved them. Part of five generations who served God, Del served with wonderful integrity in purpose and methods wherever God placed him.”

Del had been credentialed with Open Bible for 64 years. He and Joan had three sons, Mike, Marv, and Ric (deceased), who all chose to carry on their parents’ legacy of faith.
