Dyecol y yo nunca hab\u00edamos tenido hijos juntos. Poco despu\u00e9s de mudarnos a Lehigh, vimos un anuncio de una agencia de adopci\u00f3n. Dyecol fue a la oficina de la agencia para obtener m\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n, y no transcurri\u00f3 mucho tiempo antes de que estuvi\u00e9ramos asistiendo a una clase sobre adopci\u00f3n. Nunca olvidar\u00e9 cuando vi a aquella ni\u00f1a asustada entrar por nuestra puerta. La tom\u00e9 en mis brazos, apoy\u00f3 la cabeza en mi hombro y mi futuro qued\u00f3 sellado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Apenas hac\u00eda un mes que ten\u00edamos a Isabella cuando recibimos una llamada para una segunda ni\u00f1a, Mar\u00eda. Ruby, la hermana de Mar\u00eda, se unir\u00eda a ella unos meses m\u00e1s tarde y, poco despu\u00e9s de Ruby, recibimos una llamada para otra hija, la numero cuatro, nuestra primera reci\u00e9n nacida. Esta beb\u00e9 solo ten\u00eda seis d\u00edas y hab\u00eda nacido siendo adicta a las drogas. Nos dijeron que sus padres no la quer\u00edan y nos entusiasm\u00f3 la idea de que pudiera ser nuestra. La acogimos, la desintoxicamos y ella empez\u00f3 a desarrollarse. Fue entonces cuando su padre biol\u00f3gico decidi\u00f3 que la quer\u00eda. La situaci\u00f3n se complic\u00f3 a\u00fan m\u00e1s porque nuestras esperanzas de adoptar a las otras ni\u00f1as se desvanecieron casi al mismo tiempo. Est\u00e1bamos destrozados. Esta experiencia de saborear la maternidad me convenci\u00f3 de que quer\u00eda volver a ser madre, pero ser padres de crianza era demasiado dif\u00edcil. Me dije a m\u00ed misma: \u00ab\u00a1\u00a1\u00a1Nunca jam\u00e1s!!!\u00bb. Hasta que recib\u00ed la siguiente llamada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sometimes God walks you through a process of loss and then He dumps blessing on you when you least expect it.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n \u201cMs. Walker, I have a little girl for you\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI don\u2019t know, we\u2019re taking a break.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMs. Walker, I\u2019m telling you, you\u2019re going to want this little girl.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n (Deep Breath.) \u201cOkay.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our case worker brought over this ten-year-old little girl with big old grandma glasses, fuzzy hair, and the cutest smile. That little girl walked into our lives, and she has changed us forever. Her name is Anna-Tae Walker, and she became our first adopted daughter. Two months later, we were introduced to our daughter Heavenly. We loved her from the moment we saw her. Sometimes you just know. I said to my husband, \u201cShe\u2019s not leaving.\u201d True to my word, Heavenly AND her brother Joshua became ours through adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n Sometimes God walks you through a process of loss and then He dumps blessing on you when you least expect it. I didn\u2019t understand why we couldn\u2019t have the first little girls we tried to adopt, but God said no. He knew who our kids were.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite my having three adopted children, I continued to take new placements. My first experiences fostering almost broke me, but as I continued to say \u201cyes\u201d to each new child, God reinforced my heart with His strength. Instead of shrinking with each loss, my heart grows bigger as I watch family reunifications. God has gifted me with the capacity to love and to lose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One night as I was lying on my bed, the Lord gave me a word: \u201cWalker\u2019s House of Hope.\u201d I told my husband, \u201cThis is what we\u2019re going to name the house where we raise the children God brings to us.\u201d We started praying, \u201cLord, if you give us a bigger house we will take more children.\u201d At that time, we had seven children in a three-bedroom house. It wasn\u2019t long before the Lord provided us with a four-bedroom house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n God has gifted me with the capacity to love and to lose.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n I got the call almost immediately: \u201cMs. Walker, we have a sibling group of three.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou know I have seven children, right?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYes, Ms. Walker, but you were born for this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Immediately the voice of the Lord came to me, reminding me of my prayer. He had given me a bigger house; I was obligated to fulfill my promise. So, we ran out and bought another bunk bed.<\/p>\n\n\n Today, we have ten children: three adopted and seven fostered. Every day after school, I hear ten voices at once, beautiful chaos. Each time I say aloud, \u201cI have ten children,\u201d I can\u2019t believe it \u2013 not because it\u2019s too much, but because it feels comfortable. When I dream about the future, I see myself with even more children, running around a big property and coming in to eat dinner around our huge kitchen table. I have found my calling, and I am believing for God to gift us with the house that\u2019s as big as my heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I had a sign made that hangs in our current home: \u201cWalker\u2019s House of Hope.\u201d When I look at it, I say to God, \u201cThis is not it. But this is it for now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Seven years ago, we moved to a city that was in chaos and darkness. Today, we live in a home of chaos and light.
