Leaders need opportunities to get away to encourage, inspire, and pray for each other. They need to grow in relationship and mutual support. Accordingly, President Randall and Barbara Bach host an annual retreat for Open Bible’s Executive Leadership Team and their spouses. The retreat is planned to include opportunities for sharing about vision, victories, and challenges and time for prayer, fellowship, relaxation, and fun together. The national secretary/treasurer, executive director of Global Ministries, and the five regional executive directors comprise Open Bible’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Members of the ELT are the highest executive leaders in Open Bible and serve as spiritually discerning advisors to the president and to the national board of directors.
The 2022 ELT retreat was held along the famous Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas, also home of the Alamo. Secretary/Treasurer Brian Ehlers; Global Missions Executive Director Vince McCarty and his wife, Lois; Southeast Region Executive Director Nathan Hagan and his wife, Candi; and Central Region Executive Director Bruce Pfadenhauer and his wife, Robin, joined Randall and Barbara Bach for the San Antonio retreat. Unable to attend the retreat were Darcy Ehlers; Mountain Plains Region Executive Director Bill Jimenez and his wife, Wanda; East Region Executive Director Josh Grimes, and his wife, Melissa; and Pacific Region Executive Director Chris Hansler, whose wife, Lisa, was welcomed into heaven shortly before the retreat. The team mourned the loss of Lisa and prayed for Chris and the family.
